Folk Art by Cindy Gray

I have been stitching and creating since I was a child.
I watched my mother and grandmothers do different types of handwork. I was greatly influenced by my grandmother who
was a strong willed wife of a farmer. That Luzerne County, Pennsylvania farm sparked
my passion of learning about the past and love of the land and nature. I continue to seek to learn more about what people
did day to day in the 18th and 19th centuries that were so different from the life I know. The folk art,
needlework, and toys made by women, by hand, by candlelight, some made for necessity others for creativity, all made with
love continue to inspire my own art. I strive to make unique original folk art, some traditional and some whimsical
always keeping in mind techniques and designs of those days gone by. All of my pieces are my own designs and patterns,
made by my hands. My work is made mainly from antique and vintage fabrics and most designs are one of a kind.
Stay young at heart,
Cindy Gray
